Children's Corner
We take special pride in being "Child Friendly" at our dental office. What this means, is that we welcome and love to see young children.
The best way to introduce them, we feel, is for Mom or Dad to bring their child in with them when the child is about 3 1/2 to four years-of-age. This is often just for a "social" visit.
We don't make a chart for the child - we just get to meet them. If they are shy, we show them to the "treasure chest," and they get to pick out a toy.
If they want to sit in the chair, we count their teeth, and give them a prize.
The point is, the first visit is very non-threatening. From there, it's usually a whole lot easier.
* Naturally, if they DO have dental decay, or a toothache, we deal with this as required. But the ideal is social first. It starts their whole dental experience off on a positive note.
